Tecumseh HM80 with Tillotson HL-360A part 1.MOV

One of my Tecumseh HM80 motors with the Tillotson HL-360A 262 carb, Mikuni fuel pump, throttle linkage and supporting hardware mounted, i used this block (awaiting rebulid) to check the fit of the physical parts and lines. The “unique” features of this HL360 (long shaft idle adjustment ,dial type high speed adjustment, pulse fitting for primer?) meant that there was little to no space to mount the exhaust header. Mounting the carb fuel fitting down allowed me to get around this with enough clearance between the throttle and the exhaust. The Mikuni fuel pump may require a rebuild but i’ve got a Walbro WIP22 on hand to test as well. To provide a pulse to the fuel pump, i installed a suitable 1/4″ fitting into the dipstick hole. If all is ok with the setup pictured, next step is to move the upgraded parts over to another HM80 currently running a stock setup (see earlier HM80 vids) It’s all “homebrew” – any constructive comments or suggestions are definitely welcome. On my TEC H70 with a Tillotson HL239B carb installed i took the pulse to feed the internal diaphram fuel pump from the intake (see my other vids of this motor) and it works fine, seems to be the way to go with a B&S 5 HP as well….with the larger motors like the TEC HM80 8 HP pictured using an external fuel pump i’ve seen and read that taking a pulse from the crankcase is the best method (still working this out myself – either from the oil fill hole or the oil breather).
looks cool. is the fuel pump source just tapped in to the crankcase? reason I ask is I’m wanting to put a mikuni fuel pump on my 8HP briggs, and the research Ive done says that I should tap into the intake, will that even work?
