Any parts of car engine to avoid if spraying with water to clean?

Hello,
I’d like to spray off my car engine with water to clean it. Are there any parts I should stay away from per spraying?

What will happen to turbo engine if the intercooler is exposed to rain water frequently?

Is it going to harm the engine & decrease the life span of the engine & is there any solution for reducing the rain water splashing in through the bonet scoop? Thanks.
