I have Poulan Pro model PP8527ESB with Tecumseh engine. Engine starts but quits if the fuel tank cap is on and only works without fuel cap. I changed sparkplug and oil and put in new gas.

The vent on the fuel cap is probably plugged. If you can’t clean it, replace it.

get a new fuel cap or try to clean it. the vent may be blocked.

It sounds like that is a vented cap which needs to let air in to permit fuel flow. Look at the inner top of the cap and see if there is a squashed inner metal channel that is covering the vent in its top. If you can’t straighten that out and permit air venting, just buy a replacement cap.
