universal o2 sensors but that damn engine light still didn’t go away. What could be the problem now? I’m about to take a bat to this damn car. It’s pissing me off.

Get the engine code scanned. Stop guessing.
Autozone will scan the code for you (free).
Good Luck….
universals almost never work properly you need to get the right ones for your car. universals are generic replacements. the oem ones are designed to work well with your computer for proper fuel flow. plus the light doesn’t go out on its own it has to have the codes cleared. most parts stores can clear codes. that is the only way to know if it worked
The OBD computer monitors many things in your car. The O2 being one that is being constantly measured. After you have replaced them, did you check the OBD trouble code and make sure its the o2? If so, reset it so the Check Engine light turns off. If the light turns on again and its the o2 again, you may have used the incorrect sensors.
After replacing them, go to your local auto parts store to buy/burrow a Onboard Diagnostic (OBD) II scanner. Plug this into your OBD scanner interface and start the engine then click on the reset button on the OBD scanner to clear the engine light.
If it doesn’t return, then your problem has been resolved. Otherwise, there still maybe some wiring issues present.
Good luck!
