This was a eBay find. Murray Snow Blower with a Hole in the Block. I changed out the engine to a Central Machine 6.5HP OHV Engine from Harbor Freight. Fit Great! Not Bad for $150 Bucks and a hour of work!
No Snow Yet. But on cold days 2 pulls and it kicks right over. You just need to leave the choke on a little longer.
does it have electric start?
why did u change it
i have the same machine but with tecumseh engine and electric start
just got it tuned up
I’m always on top of the maintenance on my OPE. Thanks for the Plug Number I wrote it in the Notes of my owners Manual. It’s a Chinese Honda Clone (GX200) Hopefully it will hold together. I wonder?? If I lick the paint will I get a buzz off the lead???
LOL
Those engines should give you a very long operating life as long as you keep on top of maintenance, i.e. cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, changing the spark plug (use an NGK BPR6EY in that engine) and keeping the valves adjusted.
If your going to try that I recommend the forum at opeonthenet. com there is a lot of good advice. I haven’t used this engine in the cold yet. I’m hoping for a nice 2 foot early winter snow storm.
I am look at those it now for 129 dollars at harbor freight. How engine do in winter? Did it have strong to move that weight? If it good then I maybe will buy that so repower on old gilson snowblower.
