Gas vapor leak in my NEW car causing engine service light to come on. Where could it be leaking gas vapor?

(2010 Ford Focus–400 miles)The dealer does not think it is the gas cap, as he has checked this, but says it maybe coming from somewhere else. He says the vapor leak causes the engine light to come on….and gas vapor can be smelled near the gas cap vicinity, without opening the cap– after it has been driven. There is no liquid gas actually leaking from the car that can be seen. The dealer says he must now check the system to find the vapor leak, because this vapor leak may be setting the engine light off. MY QUESTION….Besides a bad gas cap, where else in my car could the gas vapor leak be coming from? And will this be easy to find and fix?
try to have a smoke test for your vehicle. In this way, you could determine where the smoke leaks on the hoses…
The gas vapor odor could be coming from anywhere in the fuel system. The whole idea of a closed fuel vapor recovery system is to stop this very thing, which means that you are going to have to get it scoped. Usually the scope can find all of the pressure and flow problems of the entire system. This is probably the best route to go.
