Are there sensors or computers in the engine that tell the instrument cluster/gauges what to display?

Are these readouts given by some kind of sensor or computer?
1995 Buick Regal
1. RPM / tachometer readings
2. Gas gauge
3. Engine temp
4. Speedometer and odometer
5. Trip meter

How come I can’t see the sensors for these gauges? Where are they located in the engine?

Yes, there are about dozen sensors and a computer.

They are located all over INSIDE the engine. And would you know a sensor if you saw one?

    Good Luck…

They are sensors. I believe the Tach is located on the block.
The Gas Gauge is a sending unit located in the gas tank.
Enging Temp is also located on the block
Speedometer is located on the tranny, and along with the odometer too i believe.
What is the trip meter? same as odometer? if so then should be located on the tranny
    hope this helps.
